By popular demand, the women of the parish returned to the Essence of India, Kinross Shopping Centre, Selkirk Drive, Tuesday 8 September

For our December meeting, we joined with book club members and spouses to take part in a quiz evening at the Whale and Ale where good company and food was enjoyed.

Women parishioners at Grace Church enjoy a restaurant meal together once a month. The 'eating out' group has continued to flourish this year with a regular attendance of up to 18 parishioners for our monthly get-togethers.

The women's group, which started about three years ago, is a great way for newcomers to get to know others and for regulars to catch up. Everyone enjoys a chance to meet in a relaxed, social setting. Members decide among themselves the choice of cuisine for the month. So far, meals sampled include Chinese, Thai, Aussie, Italian and pub fare.

Get-togethers are informal and discussion topics are diverse; what our children have been doing, work and personal issues, holiday plans and so forth.

When paying for their meals, members usually put in an extra couple of dollars which goes into parish funds. At the end of the year, this will pay for Christmas hampers for Anglicare. This last year has seen the Sunday church collection benefit by $156.60 from our efforts... every bit counts!

Dinners are usually the second Tuesday of the month at 7.15pm and last around two hours. Names are given to a nominated parishioner who makes the restaurant booking. Partners are traditionally invited for the December meal, but lately we have started experimenting with Saturday morning breakfasts.  This is a great social outlet for women parishioners away from the Church environment, and as a way for new parishioners to get to know others so they can identify a familiar face among the congregation at Sunday worship.

Next gathering - Ask Margaret or Helen - also see the Events Calendar.
