Parish Priest: The Revd Dr David Wood B.A., B.D., M.A., PH.D.
Anglican Chaplain Edith Cowan University

David Graeme Wood was born in 1953, educated at Brighton Grammar School, the University of Melbourne, Trinity College, the United Faculty of Theology, and Monash University. He is a Bachelor of Arts (Art History & English Literature) and Master of Arts with Honours (Womens Studies) of the University of Melbourne. He studied theology at the UFT and Trinity College, graduating Bachelor of Divinity of the Melbourne College of Divinity in 1978. He is a Doctor of Philosophy in theology of Monash University.

Ordained deacon in 1978 and priest in 1979 in St Paul's Cathedral by the Archbishop of Melbourne, he served as assistant priest at All Saints' Newtown (Geelong) 1978-1980 and Saint Matthew's Cheltenham 1980-1982. He was Priest-in-Charge of Saint John's Sorrento with Saint Andrew's Rye 1982-1985, and Vicar 1985-1986. At the same time he was Anglican Chaplain to the Officer Cadet School at Portsea, serving as a Royal Australian Army Chaplain with the rank of Captain.

He served as Vicar of Saint John the Divine Croydon 1986-1994. During this time he was also an Executive Member of the Council of Christians & Jews (Victoria), Moderator of the Summer School in Ecumenism, Secretary of the Commission on Community & Race Relations of the Victorian Council of Churches, a member of the Diocesan Commission on Ecumenism, the Anglican/Roman Catholic Working Group, and a member of the Provincial Synod of Victoria.

In 1994 he moved to the Diocese of Perth to take up the position of Rector of Christ Church Claremont. The Archbishop of Perth appointed him Examining Chaplain, Director of Vocations, and Canon of Saint George's Cathedral. In 1999-2000 he took long service leave, serving as Priest Associate at Saint Christopher's City Beach (Perth) and Priest Associate of the Community of the Holy Spirit (New York City). He is currently Rector of Joondalup and Anglican Chaplain to Edith Cowan University.

Fr David is the author of Is God a Boy's Name?: Inclusive Language for the Liturgy (Melbourne: St Stephen's Press 1991), and Poet, Priest & Prophet: Bishop John V. Taylor (London: CTBI 2002). His papers Genesis of Poet, Priest & Prophet and Christian Mission with Bishop Jophn V. Taylor are published in International Review of Mission, July 2003, by the World Council of Churches. In 2004 SCM press commissioned him to write the introduction for their Classics edition of John V. Taylor's The Go-Between God: The Holy Spirit & the Christian Mission. In 2005 he was invited to contribute a chapter to Simon Barrow & Jonathan Bartley (Eds), Consuming Passion: Why the Killing of Jesus Really Matters (London: DLT 2005). In 2007 he was asked to write the chapter on Jesus for the Australian Government's Project Abraham: A Conversation between Muslims, Christians & Jews. Fr David writes regularly for The Anglican Encounter newspaper of the Diocese of Newcastle, New South Wales, and for The Geranium Farm - the online contemporary spirituality forum, www.geraniumfarm.org/home.cfm

Currently, he is working on a book about Archbishop Peter Carnley and the first ordination of women to the priesthood in the Anglican Church of Australia. He has taught theology at Trinity College Melbourne and Wollaston College Perth. His interests include travel, reading, movies, icon writing, and cooking.

Priest Associate: The Revd Jeni Goring B.A., B.Soc Wk., B.D.
Chaplain, Princess Margaret Hospital

Jenifer GORING was born in 1961 and obtained BA UWA 1981, BSoc Wk UWA 1983; BD Murdoch 1991. Ordained deacon in 1996 (Perth), and priest in 1997 (Perth), she became Deacon Assistant Kingsley/Nth/Woodvale 1996-97. From 1997-1999 she was Chaplain at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

Currently Jeni is Chaplain at Princess Margaret Hospital and Associate Priest to Grace Church Joondalup.
